A reservoir (etymology: from French réservoir a "storehouse ), artificial lake or impoundment from a dam is used to store water. Reservoirs may be created in river valleys by the construction of a dam or may be built by excavation in the ground or by conventional construction techniques such as brickwork or cast concrete.

Hot on the heels of news that Google uses toilet water to cool one of its data centers, it has emerged that an enterprising hardware hacker had the same idea almost two years ago. Who needs a water reservoir when you have a toilet cistern, eh?
